okay so you maybe thinking "there is already the ability to become invisible if you are premium". but not all of us are premium but still want a bit of privacy.
here's my suggestion:
why not have a system where you would still appear as logged in, but it would say "browsing privately" instead of your current site location. this way, you could also send quicknotes while still retaining a bit of privacy. this feature should definitely be for standard members. possibly premiums but i'm not sure seeing as they already have the invisibility feature.
what do you think?
Why not implement a feature where premium members actually send a quick note, but are still invisible. It would almost work like a system message. I am a premium member, and it would be really cool to be able to do this whithout the zoners knowing who that person is.
the only problem with that would be that people would abuse the system and start sending spam. also, people would not be able to ignore you because they wouldn't know who to ignore.
the reason why i mentioned standard members so much was because i'm not premium (whough i so wish i was) and therefore i'm speaking from a standard members point of view.
if you want invisibility pocket pc, get premium, for fuck's sake! if you want features, pay for them! nothing on the internet is free these days. fuck this!
well i'm under 18 and my parents won't pay for it. and they'll probably ban me from this site completely if they find out whats been happening over the last fej days.
oh and i'm not under 13 so you don't need to panic about that!!!
well social network sites are a growing thing, and if you can't face them, you cannot blame the site or its users. nothing unlawful has gone on here. being offended is still allowed.
Well maybe a friend can get you premium? Lol! Or you could save up?
Why are you so hung up on privacy? If you don't want to be bothered, just turn all quicknotes off. People will see your name, but really, so what? Why are you afraid for people to see you are logged on?
Apparently you don't understand the full meaning of a "social networking" site. It's to socialize and get to know people. If you want to be secretive an conspiratory which is what I'm suspecting here, then close your account. And do what Becky said if youre so hung up on "privacy," turn off quicknotes and do your business. I personally see no point in invisibility as it is, but, the feature's there and that's ok by me. I just don't make much use of it. I only went on it once just to see what it looked like. Anyway, I disagree with the suggestion and I'm sorry you're too young and immature to handle or buy a premium membership.
I think it has to do with the topic he made in the rants bord yesterday.
I agree with michael, that would be cool, and pc, why not just turn your public qn's off? i mean, its that simple
Oh, deary deary me. As has been previously said, /togqn will toggle all qn's off and on, don't want to talk? That's the way to go. And yes, being able to send messages while invis would leave us open to spam and other forms of abuse. As Martin so diplomatically put it, *grins* some features you have to pay for otherwise what's the point of paying for premium if we all have the same level of use on the site? It's great to see suggestions coming from users, but no sorry, this one won't fly.
Cheers,
Simon
hehehe simon, this banging on from some standard members about premium features and how they should have them for free really pisses this bear off.
I've been looking at the boards lately and seeing a lot of this standard member wanting premium feature thing going on. I think it's nice to have a premium membership and all that, but at the same time, I have to throw my two cents in here.
From the little i've observed, it almost seems as though premiums want premium features, and standards want premium features to become available to everyone. I think a compromise has to be reached, because i can already see this getting out of hand. I think something like what I saw on the suggestions board about forwarding voice mails being a premium feature is incredibly unnecessary. Also, things like not being able to see your own quicknote history is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, considering they were sent to you, and certain people, me included, have an unstable internet connection that actually doesn't allow for them to receive every single quicknote they've gotten. However, some of them make sense, such as the audio profile length, private conferencing, downloading messages, etc since that actually uses up the server's bandwidth and other resources. If there is one thing that really makes me angry it's not being able to see a quicknote someone sent me, and having to ask them to send it all over again, right along with not being able to go through archived grephiti posts. I mean, they're there, why not give everyone access to them. The games i can also understand, to give standards some kind of further reason to buy premium, and let them get some enjoyment out of it. But some of the features that are unavailable to a standard member do nothing more than inconvenience the standard member in question. It also seems as though the only people wanting features to get implimented specifically for premium members, are premiums themselves. I saw a board topic a while ago about a comment box in profiles, and someone suggested that premiums should have a much longer character limit than standard members. Personally, I think that this would simply cause any standard member to post five comments in a row to compensate for this, and if they were like me, they'd do it for no other reason than to prove to everyone that having the 5x character limit was totally unnecessary.
I guess what i'm trying to say here is that maybe rather than just shooting down someone's suggestion if it has anything to do with wanting premium features to become available to standard members, you should really take a look at how this would affect people on a site. Whether this is a social network or not, there are some who come on here just to play the games, and others that don't like quicknotes for the reason i stated above. This, i think, should be taken into account when reading this kind of topic. i'm almost tempted to post this in the rant board, but I don't think i will.
Now to actually respond to the suggestion, I think this would be pretty useful to some, who didn't want everyone to know where they were. I personally don't care about people seeing my location, but I could certainly see the use of it. Maybe there could be a box in your profile that says something like "Allow people to see your location on the site" or somethi9ng. If this were unchecked, the current location could just be unknown.
And as for premiums sending quicknotes as system messages... again, not necessary. head over to the anonymous boards and do that over there.
